School of Liberal ArtsMessage from the Dean
The Liberal Arts are the bedrock of undergraduate education. How ideas are created, expressed, challenged, and put into action is the work of the many subject areas of the arts and humanities. At the heart of it all is the elusive and fascinating process of human thought: critical, analytical, and contemplative. It is how we define our world, and ourselves in it. In the School of Liberal Arts, our mission is to provide a dynamic learning environment in which students and faculty work together towards the collective aims of a responsible society. We want to know what you think. You’ll show us through individual and group projects in writing, speaking, and creative expression, using traditional and new media. We’ll guide and challenge you with the expertise of more than 100 highly qualified professors who are here because they love to teach. In our 38 academic programs, small classes foster the active engagement in learning that prepares Siena Liberal Arts graduates for successful careers in a changing world. The Liberal Arts core is also a significant part of Siena’s programs in Business and Science. Browse our department web sites and let us know what you think. Then come to Siena to continue the conversation. I welcome your comments and questions, and look forward to seeing you on campus. Sincerely,
