Admission

The Master of Science in Accounting program was designed for students who have earned an undergraduate degree in accounting from an AACSB-accredited institution and wish to sit for the New York State CPA exam. While the Admissions Committee will consider applications from students who have undergraduate degrees in other fields, all applicants must meet the minimum requirements for admission to the program outlined below.

Admission Requirements

Completion of the Siena College undergraduate accounting upper-level core or its equivalent, which consists of

• ACCT 300    Intermediate Accounting I
• ACCT 305    Intermediate Accounting II
• ACCT 340    Taxation I
• ACCT 350    Cost Accounting
• ACCT 370    Accounting Information Systems    

and

• BLAW 210    Commercial Transactions

with a minimum grade of "B" in at least four of the five accounting classes and minimum overall undergraduate GPA of 3.0

Test scores from the Graduate Management Admissions Test (GMAT). Applicants with an undergraduate GPA of 3.2 or higher for an accounting degree earned within the preceding five years are not required to submit a GMAT score.

All applicants are required to submit:

• Complete application form. (.pdf)
• Official transcripts from all college and universities from which they have earned credit
• Official GMAT score results, if required
• One letter of recommendation written by an Accounting faculty member at their bachelor's degree granting institution
• Brief statement indicating (1) the reason for pursuing an MS in accounting and (2) intended long term career goals
• Current resume, including employment history, certificates or licenses held, volunteer/extracurricular activities, leadership positions and honors/awards
• $50 fee (waived for Siena College undergraduate applicants)
