School of Business

Message from the Dean

At Siena College we take great pride in our School of Business. Our degree programs are rooted in the liberal arts and sciences as well as our deep commitment to Franciscan values and tradition, stressing personal, intellectual and professional growth. We offer a student-centered learning community with the goal of producing graduates who will not only have successful careers in organizations but also be leaders of conscience who strive to make a difference and contribute to their communities.

The School of Business is accredited by AACSB International (the Association to Advance Collegiate Schools of Business), which has been described by Forbes magazine as the “gold standard” in business school accreditation. Fewer than 25% of domestic business schools and fewer than 10% of business schools worldwide have met AACSB’s rigorous standards. We are the only AACSB accredited business program in a Franciscan college in the United States.

As a teaching institution, we maintain small class sizes with an average of 21 and maximum of 35 students in each class. Our state-of-the art Hickey Financial Technology Center, Alonge Accounting Lab and marketing research lab are cutting-edge facilities rarely found in a small college environment. Our faculty have outstanding academic credentials with advanced degrees from some of the most prestigious institutions in the nation as well as significant industry and consulting experience. While they publish cutting-edge research and serve on editorial boards and Presidential Commissions, they maintain a primary commitment to teaching and working very closely with students.

Our nearly 15,000 alumni occupy leadership positions throughout and beyond the Capital region and enthusiastically work with students, providing mentoring and internship opportunities. Our graduates are continuously recruited by leading employers due to Siena’s outstanding reputation.

Beyond the classroom, Siena sits on a beautiful suburban campus in a community that was recently described as the safest municipality in the United States. On campus we offer the excitement of Division I athletics, numerous extracurricular activities and more than 60 student organizations. The Capital Region itself offers an exciting mix of recreational/sporting, entertainment, cultural and professional activities. New York, Boston and Montreal are each within 3 hours of campus and offer additional opportunities for personal and professional pursuits. As one student recently said about Siena, “there is no better place to go to school.”

I invite your questions and comments and look forward to welcoming you to our campus.

Sincerely,

Jeffrey A. Mello, Ph.D.
Dean and Professor of Business Law and Management
