Registration for Fall: School of Science

Your First Semeser in the School of Science

 

School of Science students usually take four or five classes, depending on their major. School of Science students will be pre-registered in most courses. Regardless of interests, they will take the following required 3 or 4 classes listed below. If you chose to come to Siena for the one day registration and advising session in July, you will be selecting one, maybe two courses to fill out your schedule. The following majors take the following courses:


Biology:  BIOL 110 or (170 if you earned a 4 or 5 on the  AP exam), CHEM 110, FIRST YEAR SEMINAR 100; and MATH110   More information for Biology majors can be found HERE   
 
BioChem:  MATH 110; BIOL 110 or (170 if you earned a 4 or 5 on the  AP exam); CHEM 110; and  FIRST YEAR SEMINAR 100

Chemistry:  MATH 110; CHEM 110;  FIRST YEAR SEMINAR 100; plus one course of your choice - usually Core.

Computer Science: MATH 110, CSIS 110,  FIRST YEAR SEMINAR 100; plus one course of your choice - usually Core.

Environmental Studies (B.A.):  ENVA 100, ENVA 140, FIRST YEAR SEMINAR 100; plus two additional courses of your choice - usually Core – Economics 101 suggested.
 
Environmental Studies (B.S.)  ENVA 100, BIOL 110, CALC 110 or Pre CALC,and  FYSM 

Mathematics:  MATH 110;  MATH 191; CSIS 110;  FIRST YEAR SEMINAR 100;plus one course of your choice - usually Core.

Physics: MATH 110; CSIS 120,  PHYS 130; PHYS 132; FIRST YEAR SEMINAR 100; More information for Physics majors can be found HERE 

Undecided Science:  If interested in a particular science, follow above.  If not, take  MATH 110, FIRST YEAR SEMINAR 100, one introductory science course, plus one course of your choice - usually Core.  You will also take a one credit course entitled 
SCDV 001 Science  Career Exploration Seminar

Note:
Some students may take MATH 050 (Prep for Calculus) instead of MATH 110.
If you score a 4 or 5 in AP Calculus AB, you earn 4 credits for MATH-110 and take MATH 120,  CAL II,  instead.
If you score a 4 or a 5 in AP Calculus BC, you earn 4 credits for MATH-110 and 4 credits for MATH-120.
