The Times Union Center has made changes to their security policies as a response to the Boston Marathon bombings. The paragraph below is an extract from their recent press release which outlines the new security measures:
“Security guards will be conducting pat downs, bag searches and random metal detection on patrons entering the building for upcoming events. No backpacks will be allowed in the building, with the exception of infant and toddler diaper bags. Additionally, per our standard policy, no outside food or beverage will be allowed into the building. Exceptions will be made for patrons with special dietary/medical needs, as long as proper medical documentation is provided to security.”
These new security measures will affect those attending this year's Commencement ceremony in the following ways:
Graduates will be permitted to bring water into the Times Union Center. Please note that any bag, purse, tote, etc. is subject to search.
Guests will not be permitted to bring any beverage or food into the Times Union Center. Please note that any bag purse, tote, etc. is subject to search.
We recommend that friends and family members plan accordingly, as the TU Center doors will open at 8:30 a.m. The ceremony begins promptly at 9:45 a.m. |
