  • The friars welcome three new members of our community: Bishop Capistran Heim, O.F.M., retired from many years of missionary work in Brazil; Fr. Russell Murray, O.F.M., who will be the new Director of the Franciscan Center for Service and Advocacy; and Bro. Edgardo Zea, O.F.M., a friar in formation who is spending his internship year with us.

Fr. Laurence P. Rainville, O.F.M.

+Fr. Laurence Rainville photoFr. Laurence P. Rainville, O.F.M., a native of Hudson Falls, N.Y., entered the Franciscan Order in 1941, made his first profession on August 14, 1942, and was ordained to the priesthood on June 14, 1947. He holds the distinction of being the founder of the Siena College Computer Science Department, and as Professor Emeritus he continued for many years to advise faculty and students in computer skills.

Most of Fr. Laurence's career was at Siena. He celebrated his sixtieth jubilee in the priesthood in 2007, and was in the Franciscan Order for over seventy years.

Fr. Laurence died on April 13, 2009. May he rest in peace.
