The friars welcome three new members of our community: Bishop Capistran Heim, O.F.M., retired from many years of missionary work in Brazil; Fr. Russell Murray, O.F.M., who will be the new Director of the Franciscan Center for Service and Advocacy; and Bro. Edgardo Zea, O.F.M., a friar in formation who is spending his internship year with us.
Fr. John Van Hook has degrees from St. Bonaventure University, the Antonianum in Rome, and Johns Hopkins University. He is a Professor Emeritus of Philosophy. He writes: "Reading is my passion -- the morning papers, all kinds of books. Critical reading is an encouragement for a healthy prayer life. In addition, bicycling and mountain hiking are good for reflection and exercise."
