  • The friars welcome three new members of our community: Bishop Capistran Heim, O.F.M., retired from many years of missionary work in Brazil; Fr. Russell Murray, O.F.M., who will be the new Director of the Franciscan Center for Service and Advocacy; and Bro. Edgardo Zea, O.F.M., a friar in formation who is spending his internship year with us.

Fr. Gerard Lee, O.F.M.

Fr. Gerard Lee photoFather Gerard Lee, O.F.M., a native of Albany, N.Y., entered the Franciscan Order in 1965 and was ordained to the priesthood on January 9, 1971.  A Siena graduate with a degree in Biology, he holds a Masters in Theology from Augustinian College. His first assignment was to Puerto Rico as a missionary. 

Fr. Gerard has ministered at St. Francis Church in New York City, St. Anthony's in Butler, N.J., St. Joseph's in East Rutherford, N.J., and was Chaplain at Teresian House in Albany for a number of years. Gerard moved from St. Anthony's Shrine in Boston to the Siena Friary in the Spring of 2000 with his cat Blanche. He is presently the Director of St. Francis Chapel on Wolf Road in Colonie.

Favorite pastimes: movies and various computer projects.
