  • The friars welcome three new members of our community: Bishop Capistran Heim, O.F.M., retired from many years of missionary work in Brazil; Fr. Russell Murray, O.F.M., who will be the new Director of the Franciscan Center for Service and Advocacy; and Bro. Edgardo Zea, O.F.M., a friar in formation who is spending his internship year with us.

Fr. Peter A. Fiore, O.F.M.

Fr. Peter A. Fiore photoFr. Peter A. Fiore, O.F.M., a native of Glens Falls, N.Y., entered the Franciscan Order in 1950 and was ordained to the priesthood on June 9, 1955. A Siena graduate, he holds a Ph.D. from London University in England. At Siena he has held the positions of Dean of the School of Liberal Arts and Head of the English Department. He has worked in pastoral ministry in Glens Falls (1988-90) and was Director of Communications for Holy Name Province (1990-96).

Currently Peter is Scholar in Residence at the College and on weekends celebrates liturgy and preaches at St. Mary's Parish in Ballston Spa, N.Y. He has published six books on Milton, Donne, and other British and American writers, as well as numerous articles in scholarly journals. He is a member of the prestigious Milton Seminar and he is listed in Who's Who in America. His favorite pastimes: opera, theater, film, and the Yankees (when they are winning).
