  • The friars welcome three new members of our community: Bishop Capistran Heim, O.F.M., retired from many years of missionary work in Brazil; Fr. Russell Murray, O.F.M., who will be the new Director of the Franciscan Center for Service and Advocacy; and Bro. Edgardo Zea, O.F.M., a friar in formation who is spending his internship year with us.

Br. Brian C. Belanger, O.F.M.

Bro. Brian Belanger, O.F.M.Brother Brian C. Belanger, O.F.M., a native of Wolfeboro, New Hampshire, entered the Franciscan Order in 1998 and made his first vows on May 29, 1999. He spent his affiliate year at Holy Cross Friary in the Bronx; as a novice in Providence, Rhode Island, he served as Chaplain to the Hispanic inmates at the Adult Correction Institution in Cranston. He did his formation studies in Franciscan Theology and Spirituality at the Washington Theological Union in Washington, D.C. 

Brian holds a Ph.D. from Tulane University and presently serves as the College's Director of International Programs.  He has traveled widely in Latin America and Europe as part of his studies in History and Languages and has a particular interest in Mexican Colonial art and architecture.
