This is an Albany High School evening program that needs tutors to assist at-risk students in mastering course material in order for these students to pass their Regents Exams.

 Homeless Action Committee (HAC)

 
Monday-Friday from 2-5PM, 5-7PM or 7-10PM  
 

HAC needs volunteers that can commit to 2-3 hours per week to ride in their Outreach Van with their driver to reach out to people living on the streets.

The City of Albany is holding their annual Winterfest where Downtown Albany is transformed into a magical celebration of fun with indoor and outdoor excitement including interactive games, music, live animals and a variety of family-friendly performances.

Packer for the Food Pantry

Weekdays: Two hour shifts from 3-8 PM

Weekends: Varying length; Morning-Evening Times Available

Repack food donations into useable, family-size packages; Sort useable items from damages products; Re-label mislabeled or unlabeled cans and bottles

This is one of the Food Bank’s biggest ongoing needs. They are looking for ongoing volunteers as training is required for this volunteer position.

Holiday Hunger Appeal Volunteer
November-December
Call to schedule a shift

This is the Food Bank’s largest and most public fundraiser that takes places at Crossgates Mall during the holiday season.

Volunteers spend an assigned shift asking shoppers to donate to the Food Bank.

Pack grocery bags with food to be distributed from the food pantry.

Teach individual or group lessons in brass, piano or drums

 
Computer Lab- Tutor for Children
Wednesday and/or Thursday 3:30-6:00

Assist children with homework/computer assignments and recreation

 
Computer Lab- Tutor for Adults
Monday-Friday 9AM-3PM

(Not required to come every day or for the whole day)

Monitor adults with learning basic computer skills and online job training program, Provide basic computer keyboarding instruction

 

Learning Zone- Reader for Monthly Family Reading Night

3rd Wednesday of each Month- 5:30-6:00 PM

Read one or two short books to children and parents
