Family Weekend

2012 Dates: Friday, October 5th - Sunday, October 7th

Join Siena College friars, faculty, staff and students for Siena College’s Family Weekend Celebration.  We encourage you to take advantage of as many events as possible. Information about hotels in the Loudonville, NY area can be found by clicking HERE.  Please register for Family Weekend by printing out the registration form (pdf) and sending it to:

Many of the ticketed events fill up quickly, so be sure to return your registration form as soon as possible. While supplies last, pre-registered families will receive a gift during check-in. Schedule of Events

Friday, October 5

6:00 p.m. - 9:00 p.m.: Check-In & Family Reception, Sarazen Student Union 240-243

Pick up your final schedule and any advance tickets that you purchaed.  Pre-registered families will receive a free gift while supplies last. Join the Family Reception, where families reunite and enjoy light refreshments.  

Saturday, October 6

7:30 a.m. - 11:00 a.m.: Breakfast, Serra Dining Hall

$8.25 for all guests. Students on a meal plan may swipe their Saint Card.

8:00 a.m.: Annual Family Weekend Golf Tournament, Mill Road Acres Golf Club (Executive Course) - Registration for this event has ended. 

Nine holes of golf for $20.00, including a Continental Breakfast at 7:00 a.m. Shotgun start at 8:00 a.m. Golfers must check in with the starter no later than 7:45 a.m. Other options include: Riding Carts - $20.00 (Limited Number Available!), Pull Carts - $2.50, Club Rentals - $5.00. A limited number of tickets are available, first come first served.  Please register by mail.  This event occurs regardless of inclement weather, refunds will not be given.  For additional course information please visit http://millroadacres.com

9:00 a.m. - Noon: Check-In, McMahon Atrium - Sarazen Student Union

Families arriving to campus on Saturday, please check in before beginning your fun-filled day of events. Pick up a final schedule and any advance tickets that you purchased. Pre-registered familes will receive a free gift while supplies last.  

10:00 a.m. - Noon: Academic Presentations

This is an opportunity for families to experience Siena's rich academic environment. Professors will present mini-lectures on today's hot academic topics. Sit in on these lectures to discover what students are learning about at Siena.

10:00 a.m. - 10:30 a.m.

European Empires During World War II - Dr. Karen Sonnelitter, Visiting Assistant Professor of History (Siena Hall 120)

10:30 a.m. - 2:00 p.m.: Brunch, Massry Commons - New Residence Hall

11:00 a.m. - 3:30 p.m.: Saint Spirit and Craft Fairs, Sarazen Student Union 240-243 and Sarazen Student Union - McMahon Atrium

Get a head start on holiday shopping with the popular Saint Spirit and Craft Fairs in the Sarazen Student Union. Free Snowman Ice Cream will be available, with live entertainment beginning at noon.

11:00 a.m. - 1:00 p.m.: Lunch, Serra Dining Hall

$8.25 for all guests. Students on a meal plan may swipe their Saint Card.

2:00 p.m.: Blessing of the Animals, Lawn in Front of the Standish Library

St. Francis delighted in God's presence wherever he found it, even in the least of God's creatures. In remembrance of Francis' love for all creation, bring your pet dog, cat, hamster, parrot, elephant or giraffe to our annual feast day blessing of the animals. 

4:30 p.m.: Family Weekend Mass, Alumni Recreation Center

In keeping with our Franciscan and Catholic tradition, the celebration of the Eucharist is an integral part of our Family Weekend activities.  All are welcome.

5:45 p.m. - 8:00 p.m.: Gaelic Dinner, Massry Commons - New Residence Hall - SOLD OUT

A lively event, complete with Irish music and dancing! Irish-themed menu, music and dancing by Irish Blessing, a band specializing in Irish and Celtic music and Irish Dance. $20.00 per person. Doors open at 5:30 p.m., family-style dinner served at 6:00 p.m. *Students may NOT use their meal plans for this ticketed dinner. They MUST buy a ticket as well. Include your student(s) in your count for the number of family members attending the dinner when purchasing tickets.

5:30 p.m. - 7:00 p.m.: Dinner, Serra Dining Hall

$10.80 for all guests. Students on a meal plan may swipe their Saint Card.

8:00 p.m.:Bingo!, Sarazen Student Union 240-243

Prizes include movie tickets, gift baskets and gift cards.

9:00 p.m. - 11:00 p.m.: Late Night Sarazen, Sarazen Student Union 240-243
