How to Apply

We keep it simple. One Application.


The Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) is required for those who wish to apply for federal, state and/or Siena need-based financial aid. The FAFSA application is free of charge, and is the only application required by Siena. 

What You Need

  1. The student's and parents' social security number(s)
  2. Student's and parents' 2014 Federal Tax Return (Please note: if you have not yet filed your 2014 Federal Income tax return, please do your best to ESTIMATE these numbers. You will be able to go back into your form at a later date to update your information)
  3. Student's and parents' Asset Information, such as stocks, bonds, mutual funds, etc
  4. Siena's School Code = 002816

How to File

  1. Go to
  2. Select 'Start a New FAFSA'
  3. Follow the step-by-step instructions
  4. Both the parent and the student will need a PIN to sign the form electronically prior to submission. If you do not have a PIN, you will be directed to obtain one.
  5. If you are a NYS resident, please follow the link from your online FAFSA application to apply for TAP.


  • We recommend that all prospective students complete their FAFSA by February 15.
  • Financial aid packages are mailed in March. If you are interested in merit-based aid only and do not intend to file a FAFSA, please notify the Financial Aid Office at
  • Please be sure to review your Financial Aid Award Terms & Conditions upon receiving your aid package.

Special Circumstances

We know that the FAFSA might not accurately portray your current financial situation. Under certain extenuating circumstances, in accordance with federal regulations, the Financial Aid Office may be able to adjust your FAFSA information.

Examples of extenuating circumstances that can be considered include:

  • Substantial medical or dental expenses not covered by insurance
  • Private elementary or secondary school tuition
  • Recent unemployment of a family member
  • Divorce/separation of parents​

Examples of circumstances that cannot be considered:

  • Consumer debt
  • High mortgage
  • Car payments

Submitting Your Request for Review

  • You must have submitted your FAFSA for the academic year in review
  • Submit the Change in Circumstance form, required documentation and a letter explaining your situation to the financial aid office for review.
  • Once the Financial Aid Office has received your information, your situation will be reviewed. In the event the student’s financial aid eligibility has changed, the student's finanical aid package will be adjusted.
